Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you for visiting our site. We are sorry that we can not answer each question personally. Below please find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions. If your question is not answered below please let us know.
Question: Are Masses held in the Church?
Unfortunately, the Archdiocese of San Francisco closed our church, and suppressed the parish on June 30, 1994. Our group had been actively campaigning for its reopening, until October of 2005, when the diocese sold the building to the Academy of Art University. This private art school is currently using the building as an auditorium for their events, and it is not open to the public.
Question: I would like a copy of my sacramental records. Can you send them to me?
St. Brigid sacramental records are now in the custody of St. Vincent de Paul Church. Please contact them for your records. They can be reached at:

Question: Is it possible to have our wedding in this church?
Unfortunately, St. Brigid’s was sold by the Archdiocese of San Francisco, to the Academy of Art University, in October of 2005. This private art school is using the building for their functions. It is doubtful that they rent out the building as a public venue, but since there is a sign on the front showing “Academy of Art University Chapel”, you could contact them regarding this possibility.
