 2 COMMENDING THE PARISHIONERS OF AND COMMITTEE TO SAVE SAINT BRIGID
 3 CHURCH SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA FOR THEIR SERVICE AND EFFORTS TO
 4 PRESERVE THE ARCHITECTURE AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF SAINT BRIGID
 5 CHURCH, AND TO MAKE THE NEIGHBORHOOD IN WHICH IT STANDS A BETTER,
 6 CLEANER, AND SAFER PLACE BY ITS PRESERVATION
 7      WHEREAS, Saint Brigid Church (corner of Van Ness and
 8 Broadway), San Francisco California stands at the crossroads of
 9 several San Francisco neighborhoods, occupying a central place in the
10 City's transportation, residential and commercial milieu; and,
11     WHEREAS, The parishioners of Saint Brigid Church have served the
12 people of San Francisco from the location for One Hundred Thirty Five
13 Years; and,
14      WHEREAS, The Committee To Save Saint Brigid Church continues to 
15 provide social service to the needy of San Francisco by outreach to
16 other neighborhoods; and,
17      WHEREAS, The United States Department of the Interior has
18 recognized the considerable architectural and historical significance
19 of saint Brigid Church by declaring it Formally Determined Eligible
20 for the National Register of Historic Places; and,
21      WHEREAS, Saint Brigid Church and School is the alma mater of San
22 Francisco's beloved former mayor, the late George Moscone, whose
23 memory and association with saint Brigid Church and School are worthy
24 of preserving; and,

 1      WHEREAS, The Committee to Save Saint Brigid Church has worked
 2 assiduously for the past 5 years to reopen the Church for the
 3 community interests cited above; now, therefore, be it
 4      RESOLVED, That the Board of Supervisors of the City and County
 5 of San Francisco commends the Parishioners and Committee to Save
 6 Saint Brigid Church for its service and efforts to preserve the 
 7 architecture and cultural history of Saint Brigid Church, San
 8 Francisco, California and to make the neighborhood in which it stands
 9 a better, cleaner, and safer place to live and work by its
10 preservation; and be it
11      FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors
12 forward a copy of this resolution to the Parishioners of Saint Brigid
 3 Church, represented by the Committee to Save Saint Brigid Church, 
14 represented by the Committee to Save Saint Brigid Church, Robert
15 Bryan, Chairman, P.O. Box 641318, San Francisco, California 94164-
